Perhaps, the most defining facet of adulthood is the state of being haunted. When the cruel, grinning face of your own expiration date pops up uninvited it rattles you. Gets you cozy with the hourglass. Regrets rear up. Too many, if I'm honest. The thought of never ridding myself of these intimate demons wasn't sitting well. Was I stuck with them? Were all these monsters going to tag along with me to oblivion?

So, I got stuck in.
Returned to tomes, tunes and art. Attempted the premature burial but only managed an anemic distraction. I needed to write.

And sing.

Push the devils out from tired lungs and through brittle teeth.

Pen to paper. Drawing the eyelids shut and remembering. Slow and uncomfortable process. Images emerging from shadow. The shadows cast from rosier moments. We arrange our histories to our tastes, tossing truth into far corners of a locked attic.

These tracks are attempts at expulsion. A crude ritual carved from dying memories.

Every song is an exorcism and I gotta house full of haints.
